Campus Rock and Roll - part 2 - Short Story About Life Lessons

The next day, the professor made a declaration in the class showing the terror letter. He explained what happened in his house and said he would stop all of his students' thesis guidance, even cancel the passes thesis if the culprit of that terror had not been found.

The rumor spread so fast on campus, not only made my team anxious but the academics also shocked about this found. It all because the professor is known as a strong personality, so everyone know if he is willingly force not only one, but all of his guided student's to fail the graduation. 

Even though I've completed my thesis and only waited for the thesis trial line, I must make an act to help the students in my team. I made a statement in the main student online community, asking nicely so the culprit could admit and apologize to the professor ASAP. Probably the professor will forgive and give spare to the troubled student's.

Two days after that, a student was dropped out who is most likely to be the culprit of the terror. The professor did not talk more about that, but he opened his schedule again so the student's thesis could be guided by him again. Since my thesis passed, I've resigned as the thesis group leader. The professor allows me because I'm just waiting for graduation.

I felt something strange right after that, somehow all of my relations in the same major, even my closest class mate are start to make a distance from me. I could sense that some people avoided looking at me and only spoke necessary. I don't really know about what happened, I think probably its because they felt kind a insecure about adulthood.

The peak happened right after the graduation ceremony, no one even talked to me a that time. When all of the student's in my batch major taking picture and congratulate eachother, no one even approach me. 

I tried to approach them, but when they saw me come to them, they will ignore, avoid me and just move away. The only friends that approach me is my two friends from my rock band club, yes they come from the diffrent majors.

They are the ones who told me about the rumors that I've betrayed a whole batch of students in my majors. They didn't know much about the story, but it's related to one of the famous professors who is my thesis guide. 

Though it's stuck in my head, I must move on to my next life phase and focus on my career. A couple of months after that, I met one of my old class's closest classmates in the nearby cafe. I greeted him and it was obvious that she was awkwardly surprised to respond to me.

We talk a bit about what we've been through in life and then out of topic he suddenly apologizes to me. He said sorry about what happened before the graduation. He then explained what happened from the student's perspective of me.

At that time, somehow many students spread rumors about Im the one who betray the whole batch of the majors. Its because my statement in student community saying that 'probably the professor will forgive the culprit'. The culprit really think that he will get spared after admitted, but apperently the professor not even giving a single chance and straight to dropp him out.

The culprit had so many friends who also had the same path as him, using thesis jockey and the professor smart enough to see that. In previous years there seems no big trouble with this issue, but apparently the professor noticed the pattern and started to investigate more about it.

I was considered a traitor because that time I finished my thesis early, without a jockey, and then just left my unfinished team because the professor allowed me. After knowing all of this, I never listened the rock music the way that I used to.

Even though some music that I've liked before, it makes me remember all of my closest friends, my whole campus life, and that graduation incident. I felt some guilty that I must be more open an apologized to them even though I know that Im in the right side this whole time.

What is Tobrut Means in Indonesia?

In slang terms, Tobrut was an anagram of 'Toket Brutal', wh ich  in English 'toket' could be translated as 'tits/boobs/breast' and 'brutal' to describe it's size as something massive.
