It's illegal to drive under the age of seventeen in Britain, but a seventeen years old boy managed to pass his driving test on the day of his seventeenth birthday. Most people would consider this possible because you need a lot of lessons to pass the test. David Livesey arranged to have eight hours lesson beginning at dawn on his birthday. At first, he was very careless and hesitant, but he had a wonderful teacher and his driving improved amazingly during the day. By four in the afternoon, still feeling energy he was ready to take his test and he passed the first time! He was almost in a state of shock after the test, and he drove home very slowly in the red light of the setting sun. David's driving attracted the attention of two policemen, but they broke into smiles and congratulated him warmly when he showed them his certificate and told them his story.
