Surga Yang Tak Dirindukan 2015 (The Heaven None Missed) Indonesian Movie Story Recap

Surga yang tak dirindukan (The Heaven None missed), is a movie from Indonesia that carries the issues of polygamy in 2015 based on a novel by Asma Nadia with the same title.

The movie tells the story of a man named Prasetya, who begins as a child left by his mother that commit suicide in front of his eyes, grew up in an orphanage, went to college, becomes an architecture student, and until she met Arini, a college student who worked as a teacher in an orphanage. They both get along till Pras become sucessfull architecs, marry her, and had a daughter named Nadia. Their relationship going well despite some issues of the love affair and polygamy around them.

One day, Pras met a woman who had a car accident and took her to the hospital. It turned out that the woman was having an old-aged pregnancy and because she was in a coma, the baby had to have a cesarean birth.

When Pras tried to contact a close relative from the woman's phone, there is a video that explains that the woman's name is Meirose, she is a woman who was abandoned by her husband, her father left her family, and her mother committed suicide. Meirose feels so depressed and wants to commit suicide because she has no one else in her life. At that time, Pras feel confused and also shocked.

On the same night after the baby was successfully born, Meirose is missing from her room and Pras found out she was trying to suicide again by jumping from the rooftop of the building. Pras tried to help Meirose by having some discussion and making sure all she did was wrong. It ended up with an agreement of Pras promised to marry her and help her through this situation. It's because Pras didn't want the baby to live the same way as him.

The baby was given the name Muhammad Akbar and Pras had a secret polygamy affair with Meirose. Their relationship went fine, Meirose condition is slowly better because of Pras's existence, she is accepting all of his condition as long she still has someone to fight with, even though Pras was still confused about how to explain it to Arini.

Time flies till one-day Arini's father passed away and at the funeral, she found out that her father was secretly had polygamy. This thing made Arini and her mother feel devastated. This also made Pras realize that sooner or later everything about his secret poligamy affair also would be revealed.

One day, Arini found a prescription in the name of Muhammad Akbar in the house, and from that, she secretly tried to find the address. This is the point when Arini found out Pras was having a relationship with another woman. Unbeknownst to Pras, Arini confronts Meirose and found out all the story from Meirose. Even though Meirose and her baby were being saved in a better life with Pras, all of this made Arini more angry, heartbroken and disappointed.

On the other side, Pras knowing Arini has already found out about Meirose decided to apologize to her and left the house for a while. Pras understands if Arini needs time to process all of the conditions.

Short story ahead, a lot of people try to ensure Arini if anything that Pras doing surely for the sake of all good. Arini's mother also calms her down by telling if her dad's polygamy was also for the good reason too, and the mother has already accepting to make peace with it, as well as it's now all up to Arini.

Apparently, time goes by slowly with a lot of conditions and moments that Arini like it or not must accept the situations. In some moments like when Akbar was having a cold, Arini tried to help with calming Meirose down. When Nadia was having a school talent performance, Meirose supported Pras to come to see her daughter. 

Until One day, there is an accident that made Pras was being stabbed by a thug and badly injured. 

This makes all of the things come together and make Arini decide to accept Meirose. Times goes and everything was fine, they were all living in the same house, eating at the same table, praying together in the same room, and Nadia was having a good time with Akbar. 

But sadly, after everything that happened, Meirose realize something that made her heart having a hesitation. One morning Pras and Arini find out that Akbar was alone in Meirose's room. Besides Akbar, there is a phone with a video that Meirose explains if she wants to start a new life and leave all of this behind. She's saying thanks for everything that Pras and Arini tach to her, and apologizing for any mistake that she made. Meirose admits that she found herself in an unstable condition, we are just sacrificing each other, she can't provide to become a good mother and she decided to leave Akbar's responsibility to both Pras and Arini.

After knowing this, Pras and Arini decided to go out and chase Meirose in the train station. Pras found Meirose was already sitting on a train that soon will depart. Pras trying to make sure about her choice but, she has already made up her mind. 

The end of the story was a scene of Meirose sitting alone on the train that already departed, leaving Pras and Arini in the train Station.
