What is Ikan Kontol Means in Indonesia?

In English, "Ikan" means 'fish' and "kontol" means "dick/penis" so basically "ikan kontol" could be translated as "dick fish/penis fish". But the context of "ikan kontol" in Indonesia is an anagram of "ikan tongkol" which means "tuna mackerel fish", and Indonesian commonly use those words as a joke like a pun word.

There's no origin story of the word ikan kontol, the use of this word as a joke has already been around for a long long time. The word becomes viral in early 2017 because there is a video of an elementary school student saying that word in front of Mr. President Joko Widodo.

The funny moment in the video happened at an orphanage social event on 26th January 2017. There was a quiz session when Mr. president will call some people to come into the stage and ask them about something, if they can answer it correctly, they will be rewarded.

There is a kid asked to name 4 fish as a reward for a bicycle. Then the kid answered the name of some fish like catfish,  whale, and anchovy. But when the kid said the name of the last fish, instead of "ikan tongkol", the kid said "ikan kontol". This moment make the audience laugh and Mr. President only smiled with small laugh then asked the kid to say the name of that fish once again. And funnily, the kid said "Ikan kontol" again for the second time. This moment make the stage condition so akward.

Mr. President Jokowi only smiled and asked the kid again to clear his answer, and finally for the third time, the kid answer it properly with "ikan tongkol/mackerel tuna fish" and was rewarded a bicycle. 

The clip went viral and netizens started investigating the kid and then found out his name was Maulana, an elementary student in the 3rd grade who's having a dyslexia mental disorder (a learning disorder that involved difficulty identifying things such as reading and talking). The orphanage then asked netizens to not make funny about Maulana and stop making it viral.
