What is Jamet and Kuproy Means in Indonesia?

In Indonesia, "Jamet" was an acronym for "Jawa metal" which in English means "Javanese Metal". Kuproy itself was an acronym of "kuli proyek" which could be translated as "labor/construction worker". The term jamet and kuproy in Indonesia went viral in the late 2019, when there was a lot of people from the rural area of Java and Madura island, making a TikTok video about wacky weird cringe funny dancing with an emo-goth style. Indonesian netizens assume that most of them must be working as labor, and jamet was a term to classify the style of those people in a fun and satire way..

Another reason those terms went viral in Indonesia, is because the emo-goth style was the style that once went viral around 2010. But suddenly it was blown up again and combined with weird funny wacky dancing. The term "jamet dance/kuproy dance" was come from the funny comment from Indonesian netizens such as:

dia pasti kuli proyek (kuproy) = he muzt be a labour

tarian penghambat rezeki = a dance that decelerates wealthiness

dia pasti ngira 'anjir gua keren banget' = he must be thingking that 'omg, im so cool'

There is much controversy about jamet kuproy, many haters and also many people taught it was just a meme/joke/entertaining content.
