What is Om Telolet Om Means in Indonesia?

'Om telolet om' in English could be translated as 'sir honk sir', that is a term that was usually used by the kids to call a bus/truck, in a way to ask the driver to honk. This term went viral in Indonesia in 2016 cus so many people not only kids, some adults, police officers, and celebrities, do those things to entertain themselves in a fun boys way.  The boys will shout "om telolet om" with a thumbs-up hand sign on the roadside and then the driver would reply with the musical bus honk. 

Even some international celebrities like DJ SNAKE, Marshmello, Zeed, and Martin Garrix write a thread about it on Twitter. This term reflects the Indonesian people that are very easily entertained by simple things.

The term went viral again at the beginning of 2022 when there is a content from TikTok creator that was stuck in traffic, asking a bus driver to honk with shouting 'om telolet om'. The bus driver then replied with a fun musical honk and that made them happy. That video caused a lot of other Tiktok content creators to do the same way and made it viral again. 

Till right now this term is still commonly being used to call a bus to honk in a fun boys way.
