"Ngeri Ngeri Sedap (2022)" (Missing Home) Short Recap Indonesian Movie

This slice-of-life comedy movie was telling the story of social standard issues and the stereotype of the Batak family that happened in Indonesia. Batak family was having a characteristic of strict cultural unspoken rules about parenting, love relationship, successful life, and the pride of clan names.

The story begins with the background of a Batak family including Mr. Domu, and Marlina (Mrs. Domu), that having a polemic with their first son Domu, the second daughter Sarma, the third son Gabe, and the youngest son Sahat.

Mr. Domu was living with his wife and his daughter in a small village in North Sumatra, meanwhile, the other 3 sons Domu, Gabe, and Sahat migrated to Java island for several different purposes that were against the will of Mr. Domu. They haven't been home in over three years and Mr. Domu calls them to come home in order of attending a traditional cultural big family party. 

At first, all of his three sons refused to go home, until Mr. and Mrs. Domu was planning a fake fight and fake divorce that caused all of the three sons to go home to Sumatra and attend the party.

Short story ahead, the family reunion goes up and down until all the sons was realizing that their parents were faking all of those scenarios just to make them obey. The peak of the story was when the realization of the one that sacrificed the most was the sister, the only daughter, Sarma.

End of the story Mr. Domu tries to understand all of his son's decisions which leads to a happy ending for the family.

This movie went viral cus most of the Batak family relate to the story. Not only that, the music, the view, the culture, the tradition, and the ambiance that describe Batak Sumatra could amaze the emotion of the audience.
