The Mad Cash on Delivery (COD) Customers in Indonesia

In 2021 there are many stories of people from the rural area of Indonesia who's having less understanding of how the COD (Cash on Delivery) system works. They will unpack the package before paying for it, and if it wasn't the item that they expected, they will force the courier to return it to the seller.

Meanwhile 'Cash on Delivery' is one of the payment methods where you must pay for the goods that have been purchased through online shopping by the courier. And if the goods aren't paid, it will be returned to the seller in the same condition as it was packed. In the above courier case, the goods were already being unpacked, they refuse to pay for it, and force the courier to bring back the right one.

Even though the courier was trying to explain the procedure of the operation, they won't listen and then ended up yelling, mocking, blaming, and threatening the courier with melee weapons or even guns. This phenomenon went viral on social media through some video that was recorded by the courier itself, showing they were arguing and the courier ended up being yelled angrily until being threatened.

The story ended up there will be a clarification and apology from the customers for not understanding and causing chaos on social media and the problem will be resolved pleasantly. Unfortunately, till today, in a couple of times, this kind of phenomenon was still happening in several areas of Indonesia. Showing that many people in Indonesia need more comprehension about the concept of online shopping system works.
