Third Goalkeeper Full Salary - Short Story About Life Lessons
When I was in high school, I told my father that I wanted to work and make money. My father is a soccer mafia, out of nowhere, he just made me joined an official soccer team. Without even asking about what position I play, he just signed me up to become a goalkeeper.
My dad said the job and the training of a goalkeeper in a soccer team is not that hard. He faked my 17-year-old age to 18 because that is the least age requirement to join a local soccer team. I was signed to become the third goalkeeper, which a soccer team could have a maximum of 3 goalkeepers.
Weirdly, in one season (6 months) I have never been played in a match. When the first goalkeeper is injured, the second goalkeeper will replace him. When the second one got injured, fully recoverd first goalkeeper will going back in to the match.
I also never trained so hard as the other 2 goalkeepers, the coach allowed me to do casual runs and stretching, but not allow me to do the hard training session. Somehow my monthly salary is still being fully paid.
Also probably because my father is a soccer mafia, it made me excluded and not even communicating with the other players at all. I decided to resign right after that full season. I explain to my father that I'm not finding a goalkeeper a passion.
I also hear rumors that some player salary are not fully paid and even unpaid for few months late unlike me. I felt guilty about that and promised to myself that I will never ask for a job to my father anymore.
