What An E Coincidence - Short Story About Life Lessons

In 2020, a short movie named Tilik (2018) in Indonesia went viral after being uploaded to the YouTube channel Ravacana Film. The story is simple: It's about a common conversation among moms debating sensitive social issues, which turns out to be true at the end of the movie. 

The movie's emphasis on tradition, simplicity, quality, and excellent character acting that seems so natural made it loved by many. It won the 'Piala Maya 2018 award as the "Chosen Short Story Film. "

The films bring light to various theater and drama communities to produce their own short movies despite their limitation, including me and my friends.

We made a movie about a poor father who's working many jobs because he wants to buy his daughter a phone due to online homeschooling named 'Juara'. Our movie got not many attention that time, probably because so many people had brought up about the issue already. 

In 2024 there was an issue that went viral on social media about non-Javanese people mispronouncing the voice of e in Javanese words. Some clips are used in various movies and I just noticed that it happened in my previous short movie.

The background story that we built in the 'Juara' movie is in Java but we didn't do much research at that time. We use simple dialog and basic acting done by unskilled actors who are not Javanese.

So I made a funny video about it, such a funny video compilation of our movie misspronouncing the e in Javanese word. Somehow it went viral and made many people watch our short movie.

Even because of that short funny video, I started getting a lot of job calls in the national scale movie industry. What a crazy thing to happen, what a coincidence we having, what a modern world we livin'.

What is Tobrut Means in Indonesia?

In slang terms, Tobrut was an anagram of 'Toket Brutal', wh ich  in English 'toket' could be translated as 'tits/boobs/breast' and 'brutal' to describe it's size as something massive. Real Personal Service On our last visit to London my wife and I stayed at the Magna Hotel. The Magna used to be a favorite hotel of ours but we had not stayed there for over sixteen years.
